Description Ian MacGregor 2006-03-12 17:58:53 UTC
I like to use the keyboard instead of the mouse (I have one machine which
doesn't even have a mouse) and I am glad to see that someone added the gconf key
app/nautilus/preferences/always_use_location_entry because it is much faster to
enter a path, that is several directories deep, via cutting and pasting the
path. The file open/save dialog lacks this type of gconf key. I am requesting
this as a feature so I can simply change a gconf key, or a setting, to allow the
file open/save dialogs to always use a text location entry box instead of the
button bar type of location entry. I realise I can just press CTRL+L and get the
text location box but my request would alleviate that step making things a
little faster and easier for the user. I believe this would make all gtk2 apps
easier to use.

Ok It tooke me only two hours to find this bug!

It is a duplicate of http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136541

Have a look at the way they want to make the button bar and the location bar the same thing.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=59481

I think we should get the location bar and the button bar in the same widget set.
