GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 334210
disconnected network places continue to prompt for a password
Last modified: 2006-06-29 14:36:55 UTC
Please describe the problem: I added a private FTP network place, entered the password in the keyring and used it for a while, then I disconnected the server it no longer appears in my places menu. I then got prompted for my keyring password repeatedly to access the password for that ftp server almost every time i started any gnome application (gedit etc...), cancelling brings up an almost infinite loop of keyring password (cancel) -> ftp password (cancel) back to keyring password... I then deleted the keyring entry, and now I am continually prompted for the ftp password which eventually goes away (3 or 4 cancels does it) Steps to reproduce: 1. Add a private FTP place, enter the password in the keyring 2. Disconnect the FTP server 3. Use any gnome app which can access remote servers Actual results: an infinite loop of keyring/ftp password dialogs, after deleting the keyring a repetitive presentation of the ftp password dialog Expected results: When I disconnect an FTP server I would hope that the keyring password would remain however it wouldn't continue to try and access the server and require the keyring to be unlocked, also, when I hit cancel to unlock the keyring it should only present me with the option to type the ftp password in once, rather than continually, and if I cancel that it shouldn't then present me with the keyring prompt again. Does this happen every time? yes Other information: This may be in the wrong place, but finding somewhere to file bugs for places isn't easy so I assume bookmarks is close enough.
This is actually two seperate bugs: a) password dialogue not cancelable b) any app using file selector asks for password of remote network bookmarks I have seen those two before.... can't find them quickly now.
Bug 319532 is one of them
a) should be covered by bug 336619 and fixed.
