Description Sergej Kotliar 2006-03-09 15:24:42 UTC
The Connect to server dialog reached from Places, is titled "Connect to Server", and its "OK"-button is labeled "Connect".
Yet when I press Connect - it doesn't actually connect to the server, it just adds it to bookmarks.

So there are two ways of fixing this:
a) Make it automatically connect upon adding. That's probably what most users want anyway.
b) Rename the dialog and the button into something more like "Mount remote server"

I'd personally prefer a.

Not sure if this is supposed to be filed under nautilus, please move if it's in the wrong place.

Cheers!

Confirmed against 2.14.0.

Maybe instead of that "Browse the Network" button we could have an alternate button to just save the connection for later? Either way that "connect" button is deceiving. I never remember if it really doesn't connect there or if it's just taking a long time to get on with it.

I actually think the connections could warrant their own configuration applet. This would take care of renaming and modifying properties too. How hard would something like that be to make? Maybe it's time for me to learn gtk programming :-)

I think this might be a duplicate of bug 350243.
