Description Robert de Geus 2006-03-08 09:20:46 UTC
Please describe the problem:
If an imap folder is created with evolution and this folder is deleted with an
other email client (thunderbird, webmail), evolution keeps on displaying this
folder. Restarting evolution does not change this. Only after manualy deleting
the folder also evolution displays the proper folder list.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create imap folder in evolution, close evolution
2. Delete same imap folder in other imap client (thunderbird/webmail)
3. Start evolution, folder is still displayed but unaccessible
4. Restart evolution, folder remains
5. Delete folder in evolution

Actual results:
Problem is solved,

Expected results:
In step 3) the folder list of evolution should be refreshed

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Robert, this seems to be the very same issue as mentioned in bug 330838 to me.

After step (4) Restarting Evo, can you please check if a second (4b) Restart Evo again solves this issue?

Given this description with restarting once only and your other bugs, this seems to be a duplicate to me. Please verify the above, and if multiple restarting does not solve this, please re-open this bug.

Also, are you subscribing to your IMAP mail folders?

Hi Karsten,
Using thunderbird as additional mail client I can confirm this bug as a duplicate of #330838.

Using the opengroupware web mail interface, I can however confirm the above bug.
This suggests it is the webmail that creates extra confusion. We use courier-imap and Maildir so we can verify the phyisical deletion of the mail folders. We even restarted the imap server, did a complete shutdown of evolution, but evolution keeps on displaying imap boxes once deleted with webmail.

I realise my report is inconsistent, but using multiple clients deleting and moving folders to trash, and also deleting the trash, a non reproducable sequence is followed. We can however mention that things dont run very smoothly on this track. My advice is to stick to bug #330838. Once that one is solved, we will look into the webmail again. It might however be solved too.

As for subscriptions: We don't use subscriptions, but the subscription manager also displays the wrong folder list, even pressing "Refresh", does not change this for the "deleted" webmail folders.

Therefore I wont reopen this bug.

thanks,
Robert

Thanks for that good hunt down of the issue, Robert. :)

Apparently, the OpenGroupware web mail frontend does something strange or at least unusual, as results differ from using MUAs like Thunderbird or Evolution (using a different user).

Can't really tell who's on fault here, but the OGo behavior looks to be slightly broken to me. Again, just a guess though.

As you already might have noticed, I bumped bug 330838. :)
