The evolution alarm notify applet in the notifcation area has an option to
reminder about birthday.

For a meeting, I want to a reminder about the meeting shortly before.
For birthday, I want a reminder a week before, so I can go and buy a card. A
reminder on the day would be good too, so I can give it to them.
