is this "imap" or "imap4rev1" account type? please don't use imap4rev1
I'm not the reporter of this bug, but I have the exact same problem (although in my case the upgrade was from Ubuntu Hoary to Ubuntu Breezy). I think Hoary had Evolution 2.2.1.1; Breezy has 2.4.1. I've tried with and without overriding the server namespace (no effect) and I have tried subscribing to folders (no INBOX visible to subscribe to). My account is IMAP, not IMAPrev1.
The account type is regular "imap", not the experimental code.
I can also note that all my other mail on this server (in other folders) is still visible. It is only INBOX that has disappeared.
hans: that is bug 228929 and fixed in later versions. workaround: change your account settings to "show subscribed mails only". then use "folder > subscriptions" to folders to subscribe to your inbox and any other folder. you might need to restart evo in between. don't know if this fixes matthew's issue, though. can you also try?
I have "Show only subscribed folders" activated. I can't use Folder->Subscriptions to subscribe to my INBOX since that dialog does not show my INBOX as a subscribable folder and I find no way of entering a folder name manually. I should note that the screenshot http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=41411&action=view (comment #1 of http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=228929 ) isn't exactly what I see. Instead I see: + user@domain.com + IMAP + folder + folder2, etc whereas before the upgrade I saw + user@domain.com + INBOX + IMAP + folder + folder2, etc Note that the other folders originate from the same level as INBOX, not as subfolders to INBOX.
Probably a duplicate of bug #315976
If I understand that bug correctly, the user can either see his INBOX or his other folders, depending on the setting of the "Override server namespace" setting. I can always see my other folders and never see my INBOX, regardless of the setting of the "Override server namespace" setting.
Ok, I tried toggling the "Show subscribed folders" with Evolution restarts in between, that didn't work at first, but if I also disabled the "Override server namespace" setting I managed to get my Inbox back. However, now Evolution is showing every file in my home directory as being a mailbox. If I use the server namespace override to make it only look at my "mail/" directory, I lose my Inbox again...

Also, I was able to install and configure Thunderbird 1.0.7 to view the server without any similar issues.
