GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 332827
Permissions not working properly for shared folders
Last modified: 2006-04-17 10:13:48 UTC
Please describe the problem: If i share a folder ( say contacts) with other user , and the other user subscribes to it , they are able to delete the contacts , even if i have given permissions for edit own contacts , and deletd own contacts. Steps to reproduce: 1. right click on a folder , say contacts , go to permissions , add teh user you want to share your contaxcts with. 2. Check on edit own contacts , and delete own contacts. 3. Click ok Actual results: when the other user tries to delete my contact , the contact doesnt get deleted , but the option to delete the contact is seen ( it should be deactivated ). however , as expexted the contact doesnt get deleted. Expected results: I would expect that the option to delete a contact be deactivated.. Does this happen every time? yes Other information:

One more problem i notice with shared folders is that when a folder is bring shared with a user , no notification is being sent to the user about the shared folder that has been made available.
---> If an option is not permitted it should be disabled . Hence , if rename option is not permitted on a subscirbed folder , thne it should be disabled . ---> the create sub folder permission was given to a user , but still the user was not allowed to create a folder under the subscribed folder
About comment #3, server doens't have the feature of notification, so we can not do anything there. About, comment #4, disabling the not suuported action is not connector specific. See bug #337695, please update that with your requirement. And creating a subfolder is already filed as bug #311973. So closing this bug.
