Description Bengt Thuree 2006-02-21 10:13:31 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Some observations regarding the new Adjust Time.
(as per Larrys request)

1) select two photos
   start adjust time
   change 00:00:00 to 00:01:00 to 00:00:00 to 00:01:00 to 00:00:00 to 00:01:00
   observe the hour and minute field. For some combinations the minute field
   is increasing! Very weird.

2) Select one photo
   Date Time Original (MetaBrowser and Eye) : 2002:02:17 23:51:28
   start adjust time
   Current Date/Time 17/02/2002 11:51:28 PM
   Adjusted date     17/02/02   12:51
   difference        00:00:00
   --> Why a 0 difference when current <> adjusted time?

3) Select one photo
   Date Time Original (MetaBrowser and Eye) : 2003:12:20 20:54:31
   start adjust time
   Current Date/Time 20/12/2003 8:54:32 PM
   Adjusted date     20/12/03   09:54
   difference        00:00:00

   Set Date to 20/12/03   21:22:23  --> difference 11:28:23
   Press ok.
   ---> DateTimeOriginal 2003:12:21 08:22:54

4) Only modifying the date is ok.
    2003:12:22 20:28:12 dattimeoriginal
    change to 2002:11:21 20:28:12
    --> ok.

5) DateTimeOriginal 2004:12:23 20:28:12
   Current Time 23/12/2004 8:28:12 PM
   Adjusted 23/12/04 09:28
   Set Difference to 00:01:00
   Press ok
   --> No change to DateTimeOriginal

6) Why is there a different time format between metadata browser (24 hrs),
Current date (12 hours), and Adjusted date (24 hours)?

7) Add a tooltip to difference

8) DateTimeOriginal 2003:12:22 20:25:34  2003:12:22 00:00:00
   If you modify the Time after Calendar, then the "Shift all photos" will have
the correct difference in the gui.
   If you modify the differnece directly, then the "Shift all photos" will be
"00:00:00"

Maybee this is enough for now... :)

Comment 1 Bengt Thuree 2006-02-21 10:32:20 UTC
9) What happends for the husband who has UTC time in his camera, and his wife who has local time in her camera, they live in Melbourne, but travel frequently between differnt timezones in Asia. Are all photos converted to UTC ? Based upon which time? (I am getting a headache for this...)
Starting to think that two extra options are needed when we import photos. A) Cameras time is using which timezone, and B) Photos are taken in which timezone.
My father recently flew down to visit me, and I downloaded pictures from Sweden, Malaysia, and from Melbourne to my on Melbourne time computer.

10) Which time will be presented to the user on the following two pictures.
a) picture from a dinner (20:00) in New York, and b) another dinner in Melbourne (20:00). If converted to Melbourne time, the New York one would take place at 04:00. Yes, I am confused

Comment 2 Bengt Thuree 2006-02-24 06:58:10 UTC
I tried to raised the severity of this one since as it is now, the timestamp might be mangled by F-Spot, and no way to recover it. But my authority do not allow me to do it.

Have created individual bugs for this one, so I am closing it.
