GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 331556
Make the "Customise Chart" window not close when the Apply button is clicked
Last modified: 2018-05-22 13:13:41 UTC
I think it would be nice if the Customise Chart window did not close when I click the Apply button, like the Apply buttons in many other programs work. This way it would be possible to try different changes to the chart without always reopening the Customise Chart window.
Since we have a live preview inside the customize chart window I am not sure that this is in fact needed. (Perhaps this was filed at a time when we did not have a live preview.) Currently you can see the effect of all your changes in that preview window. (Of course the argument with how apply worls in other programs still applies. Perhaps the button should be called OK?)
I really miss the distinction between an "Apply" and an "OK" button as well. The live preview is nice, but sometimes it is just to small to see the effect of the changes one is trying to do. Another thing is that, sadly, the Customize Chart dialog sometimes crashes for me. So if one has to do a lot of changes you either risk of loosing all the previous done, but unsaved changes, or you hit the "Apply" button in between and have to open the dialog all the time again. This is really annoying, but gnumeric is still the best spreadsheet program by far. Thanks for considering this request.
With recent bersions it is possible to enlarge the preview when needed.
