Hi, can it be made so that when you select a large region you can hit the
"Delete" button to clear the contents of that region as this would be of great
assistance, thanks! :)

The Del key is the default in current CVS. IIRC there was a bug for this, you could do us a favor, search for it and resolve this one as a duplicate.
