GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 329897
unlock dialog should indicate keyboard layout
Last modified: 2006-06-17 01:55:42 UTC
My password is using ASCII. If my current group is Russian - I cannot enter my password. And it might take several attempts to enter the password (up to 4 - max number of the keyboard layouts). This is really irritating. Probably the dialog needs to include some parts of the keyboard indicator - or smth similar. But it is a real usability problem for people using multiple layouts. having just stumbled over this for the x-teenth time (i frequently switch between german and US keyboard mappings), I would really appreciate if this bug would get the attention it deserves. A best case solution would not only be an indicator, but a switcher. i may not even know what my password is on a different keymap or cannot enter it at all and because of the long pause (can i influence this?!) between attempts, trying to figure it out on-the-fly can be a tedious endeavor indeed... so please, m-tv, pimp my screensaver!
