would be nice to look for "_sip._udp."$domain/$realm srv records in dns. 
but maybe it doesn't because I build without avahi? software is 1.99.0 
(sorry, bugzilla doesn't list that version, so I couldn't choose it).

Avahi is what allows you to find other ekiga users on a LAN, indeed.

Can you confirm it fixes your problem to enable the avahi support ?

We do not support that yet. I will try to add support before 2.00 is released.
Btw, it is a DUP of 328340.
