GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 328296
Display Mega Byte (MB) instead of Mebi Byte (MiB)
Last modified: 2008-08-20 16:11:14 UTC
When burning a cd, nautilus-cd-burner shows the amount of the data that is going to be written on the cd in MiB format. Users are not quite familiar with MiB. Even many of them think that MB stands for 2^20. My suggestions: * Display the data size in both MB and MiB. e.g. "Data size: 635 MiB (665 MB)" * Display the data size with MB prefix. e.g. "Data size: 635 MB" (some lack of precision) * Display the data size in real MB fomat. e.g. "Data size: 665 MB" For more information on the usage of MB prefix, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megabyte#Definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefixes#Binary_prefixes_using_SI_symbols_.28Non-standard_usage_but_common.29
