Description Benjamin Otte (Company) 2006-01-18 02:14:45 UTC
reproduce like this:

1) Add an sftp:// URL to your file chooser bookmarks. Be sure you need to enter a password to unlook the private key.
2) For full rewards, log out and in again. (Not sure if that's required, I only noticed it after logging in again.)
3) Wait for any app to pop up a filechoser dialog or otherwise access the bookmarks. Even though the bookmark is not used and only sits there, an "Authentication Required" dialog pops up before showing the file chooser.

I've had this happening everywhere, from Galeon "Save as..." to the Foot Menu on the panel. And it annoys me greatly.

If you press "cancel" in the authentication dialog, the bookmark is not displayed.

This is on Debian sid, which ships Gnome 2.10.

The panel doesn't ask the password anymore (since 2.12.1, iirc).

So, if this is being fixed in every user of the bookmark menu code how can it be a libgnome problem? Should it be filed against some other module?

Looks like a dup of bug 319532. IMHO it is combination a GtkFileSystem API or a suboptimal implementation, depending on the desired remote bookmark semantics.

Ubuntu ships with a patched GTK+, so some of you might not have noted it.
