Description milky_cow_101 2006-01-15 00:16:01 UTC
Hi, when I make a cd I miss the feature of letting us playback the files in
serpentine. It's essential when you disable the 2-second gap and use the disc-
at-once mode to see if the clapping at the end of a track blends to the next
track.

Sorry for double post: maybe a way to let this happen is letting us drag the multiple files/entire playlist into something like Totem. RIght now I can't drag a multi-file selection into Totem's sidebar because it wants me to edit the textbox info under "Artist" or "title". However, dragging one file works.

This will be a context menu, right click and play track.

This will run the command: gnome-open <filename>

Hey Tiago.

Actually, I'm not sure right-clicking and playing the track is the answer. What I really want to know when creating a CD is the TRANSITION between the songs.

So I start to play the music and I listen to a few seconds. Then I skip ahead to the end of the song and listen to it end -- the delay between the songs -- and then the next song starting.

This lets me decide if the transition is too jarring.

So, you want an action that says "play transition" and it will play the last 5 seconds of the music, the two seconds gap (if it has any), and the 5 seconds of the music afterwards? Would this suffice? Or do you need play and seek capabilities?
Comment 6 Benjamin Kahn 2006-10-08 01:04:17 UTC
All *I* need is the transition, as you said. I usually know what the song sounds like. (That's why I added it.) I'd probably make the song time 15 to 30 seconds though in case there is a long end or begin time to the track.

BUT! Some people may not have appropriate names for their audio files. In this case, they may need more preview than I do.

Also, if audio enhancement features are added (fade out at the end/beginning, normalize the audio of the tracks, etc.) then preview will become more important and the transition may not be enough -- even for me.

Then adding a control to play/pause, seek would solve this.
Thanks for your help :)
