GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 326868
Rhythmbox refuse to play some files
Last modified: 2006-02-06 18:12:49 UTC
I'm using the rhythmbox CVS package from Ubuntu Dapper (compiling with gstreamer-0.10). Often, RB will hang on a song, without playing it. The play/pause/next/previous are not working anymore. The only way is to manually select another song in the library. After that, a little red "forbidden" sign will appear next to the "broken" song. For now, I don't understand the logic behind which song is broken or not. In the same ripped album, some songs are "broken", others are not. I uploaded an example of a "broken" song here : http://ploum.fritalk.com/Carla%20BRUNI-02-Raphael.mp3
I just forgot that "broken" songs play fine with gst-launch-0.10. It doesn't seem to be the gstreamer's fault
You can see the error message for why Rhythmbox won't play the file by 1) clicking on the error icon, or b) looking at the "Song Information" dialog (File->Properties). When I try to play that file (also using Dapper) I get "Internal GStreamer error: event problem.". However I also get that when using gst-launch (both with playbin and decodebin). Looking at it furthur reveals: gstid3tag.c(862): gst_id3_tag_sink_event: /playbin0/decoder/id3demux1: Got seek to 1105 during ID3v2 tag reading (allowed was 0)
I have the same thing. There is a mp3 file and RB can't play it. After trying to play this file, it can't play any other mp3 files.(Message is "There were no decoders found to handle the stream, you might need to install the corresponding plugins"). All other players(bmp, quod libet) play this file correctly. In console I get a number of messages "(rhythmbox:11736): GStreamer-WARNING **: pushing data on non-negotiated pad mad55:src, not allowed." Version of rhythmbox:0.9.1 Distro: Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 I can attach a file if it's needed.
Moving to gstreamer, since it seems to be a gstreamer issue.
