GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325820
Please dd Formiga city in GNOME Weather Applet
Last modified: 2010-01-24 01:05:45 UTC
From Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=337884): "In GNOME Weather applet, add Formiga (Minas Gerais, Brazil) city. Do it is possible?" Here is a page to Formiga's forecasts: http://br.weather.com/weather/local/BRXX1858 I hope this helps.
You may need its coordinates http://soaring.aerobatics.ws/TP/Para_de_minas/control_points.html 14 Formiga 20 23 41 S - 45 28 59 W 20 23.683 S - 45 28.983 W
Is there an ICAO code for this airport?
I don't think there is any airport in Formiga. Is there a "Add a city in Gweather" policy document available somewhere? What is needed for a city to be listed? Thanks for your answer.
Until such time as weather.gnome.org exists, we require an ICAO code to be able to offer weather services (we get them from aviation METAR data). Perhaps consult http://live.gnome.org/WeatherApplet
Marking this bug as INVALID, as we require in ICAO code. Please reopen if you can provide one (not already listed).
Here are two ICAO codes for Formiga. Formiga Formiga SNEO Formiga Formiga Apt SNFO Please also add these locations in Tunisia BORDJ EL AMRI DTTI NEFTA DTTZ SIDI AHMED AIR BASE DTTB THYNA DTTX TUNIS (ACC/FIC,RPL,FMP,AFS,NOF...) DTTC TUNIS/VILLE DTTV ZARZIS DTTJ
You can check that neither of these are already provided in Locations.xml.in and then perhaps prepare a patch as per bug #160163.
For what it's worth: the ICAO code gives you the key to use on the NOAA site (e.g.: http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl?cccc=ICAO, where "ICAO" is replaced with the code). But that doesn't guarantee that readings would be available on the site -- that's where the METAR file comes in. The most recent version (May 25, 2006) includes Nefta, Sidi Ahmed AB, Thyna and Zarzis which are already included but doesn't include either Formiga or the other Tunisian cities. As Davyd mentioned, one of the goals for creating a weather.gnome.org site is to allow greater flexibility to accept other sources of information.
results from http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl?cccc=ICAO lookup: SNEO - fail SNFO - fail DTTI - fail DTTZ - ok DTTB - ok DTTX - ok DTTC - ok DTTV - fail DTTJ - ok see http://weather.noaa.gov/data/nsd_cccc.txt for more.
results from http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl?cccc=ICAO lookup: DTTC - fail In Locations.xml.in : DTTZ - ok DTTB - ok DTTX - ok DTTJ - ok It looks like this has been already fixed and the Formiga ICAO codes don't deliver any data from weather.noaa.gov .
What is the status here?
