GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325607
STAT on startup is slow
Last modified: 2006-01-03 21:54:36 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. Move your music library to an NFS share 2. Start up Rhythmbox Stack trace: Other information: Rhythmbox tries to stat all files on startup. This is slow like hell when the library is mouted via NFS, RB takes some minutes to start and looks as if it crashed during this time. Why can't this happen in the backgroupd when Rhythbox is running?
By the way: Rhythmbox 0.9.1 (and I think also 0.9.2) was much faster.
The change was deliberate, and there's a good reason for it - it allows use of remote filesystems that require authentication. We are trying to make startup more responsive, and it would be appreciated if you could test the possible solutions we come up with. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 325215 ***
