GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325356
Gucharmap provides two entries in the Applications menu
Last modified: 2006-01-02 08:48:45 UTC
Gucharmap is assigned to two categories in the Applications menu, Accessibility abd Accessories. There's a guideline in the GNOME HIG to assign an application to only one category. The link: http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/desktop-integration.html#desktop-application-menu In my opinion it should remain only in the Accessories menu. Other information: gucharmap 1.4.4-cvs, from a few hours ago. :)
We recently changed the category for gucharmap to Utility;Accessibility. One of the entries that you see is probably from the default installation on the system, the other one from the CVS version you installed...
Actually the only GNOME installation in this particular system is from jhbuild, built under /opt/gnome2. It's the gnome-2.14 moduleset minus the accessibility related modules. evandro@debian:~$ dpkg -l | grep gtk evandro@debian:~$ ;) There are two entries on the menu, one under Accessibility and one under Accessories, so gucharmap is assigned to two categories which the HIG recommends against. IMO it should only be assigned to the Accessories category, like the old .desktop did.
