GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325106
Sticky notes applet crash during startup
Last modified: 2010-01-24 01:06:24 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy) Package: gnome-applets Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.12.1 2.12.1 Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: Sticky notes applet crash during startup Bugzilla-Product: gnome-applets Bugzilla-Component: stickynotes Bugzilla-Version: 2.12.1 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.12.0) Description: Description of the crash: As the panel starts the sticky notes applet, the sticky notes applet crashes and bug-buddy pops up. At time of writing, the panel is also hung half-started (presumably waiting on sticky notes/bug-buddy processes for something). Steps to reproduce the crash: With the stickynotes applet on a panel in your session, log into GNOME. Expected Results: No crash. How often does this happen? Always. Additional Information: I have 3 stickynotes on my desktop, two in normal english, one in Thai (UTF8). The hang appears to happen with the yellow backgrounds of the two english notes displayed (without any text yet), but the Thai background is not yet drawn. I will follow-up with the content of the Thai stickynote later, in case it's that that could be causing it (or to help reproduce the problem). Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/libexec/stickynotes_applet' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". OK, sorry I deleted the Thai note a while ago, so that's irrelevant. Just two ordinary plain english notes. Also, it always starts up fine when it prompts me to delete or restart the applet and i choose restart. Maybe a timing issue?
I wish Ubuntu would push some kind of update with the patch for this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 310370 ***
