GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 324374
Frosty crashes
Last modified: 2008-01-15 13:03:31 UTC
Distribution/Version: Slackware 10.2, Ubuntu 5.10, and SUSE 10.0 Create a new image (it doesn't appear to matter what size, but I used 420x300 pixels). Select the "Text" tool and click on the image. Type some text; for my example, I used "the gimp" with Monospace font at size 40 px. Right click -> "Script-Fu" -> "Alpha to Logo" -> "Frosty". Click OK on the dialog. An error message pops up that says: Frost Message Error while executing (script-fu-frosty-logo-alpha 3 27 100 '(255 255 255)) ERROR: Procedural database execution failed: (gimp_edit_stroke 27) After clicking OK on the error message, not only does the script appear to have failed, but the entire image seems to be corrupted; I can no longer use the paint brush, undo, etc. Of course, the expected result is that the frosty script succeeds and that I can continue editing the image normally. It's important to note that this error happens almost all of the time, i.e. you almost certainly don't have to adhere to the above procedure to get the same error. I've found this bugs on all three Linux distros that I tested (Slackware, Ubuntu, and OpenSUSE), and it looks like it behaves precisely the same way on all of them. I haven't tested on any other operating systems.
The image is not corrupted - check the layers that were created by Frosty, some of them are offset outside of the canvas. The script works better if the text layers is enalrged to image size before applying the effect.
Duplicate of bug #323778 ?
IMO it is a duplicate. The behaviour of the script is still not right (see comment #1), but we should open a new bug with a better description for this problem. The stroke error can't be reproduced with current CVS. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 323778 ***
