GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 323145
use Sent Icon for *every* Sent folder
Last modified: 2009-05-24 20:38:26 UTC
Since Evo 2.4 now has a special icon for "Sent" folders, this icon should be use for *all* Sent folders, as definied in Preferences / Mail Accounts / <account> Edit / Defaults This should be consistent, just like the special Icons for Inbox, Junk, Trash.
confirming.
Well, i can set the sent folder to any folder. Would it make sense to change the icon of that folder to "special sent folder" icon. The server specified sent folders are too kludgy to handle. There is only one folder in the folder list which is coined the local sent folder. I dont think we should be doing any change. I would vote for a WONTFIX or NOTABUG. I would let srini handle it cos its a ui issue.
Yes, *any* folder that is set as a Sent folder in the account settings by the user should be highlighted/marked by this special sent icon. From a *user* point of view, there is *nothing* special about the On This Computer / Sent folder. If a regular IMAP user selects a folder on his IMAP server as his Sent folder, he does not expect the default Sent folder to be any special or get his sent mail. In an ideal case, the user does not even know about the fact that this default folder will be used as a fall-back. It is in no way special to him. Thus the UI must not pretend it is. FWIW, any Inbox is marked with a special icon. As is any Junk and Trash. If we use a dedicated icon for Sent folders, this must be used consistently for *any* Sent folder.
See bug 339628 for a related issue. Again, please be consistent. Do *not* special-case special folders, that actually are not special in any way. Respect the users settings, rather than hardcoding stuff like this.
removing old target milestone.
Closing as a dupe of bug #362907, since that bug covers Drafts as well. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 362907 ***
