GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 323112
View / Preview namings should be consistent across components
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:04:09 UTC
The View / Preview menu entries in Mailer and Address Book should be uniform. There is no reason to confuse the user by using generic ones. The same thingy in differenc components should be as uniform as possible. "View / Preview Pane" in all components would be a possibility. This used to be consistentent in 2.2.
OK, changing this bug and the Summary. The menu items do not necessarily need to be the same, they just need to be named consistently. According to bug #227853 (see comment 31) and bug #262330 I propose a consistent naming: Message Preview Contact Preview Task Preview Please note there is *no* plural form here. It's one Message, one Contact and one Task that will be shown. It is not "Tasks". Please also note that this actually is not a *pre*view. At least wrt to mails. It *is* the mail itself...
now confirming.
If im not wrong it is like this only in head. I just forgot did i fixed it in 2.4.x or 2.5.x.
Like *what*? The Tasks don't have a toggle-able View Pane in 2.4, and the namings are (or at least where) inconsistent in 2.4 and 2.5. This is how it is in 2.4: Mail: View / Message Preview Ctrl-M Contacts: View / Preview Pane Ctrl-grave See comment #1 for proposed consistent namings. It was not like that neither in 2.4 nor in 2.5
2.5.2 rpm dated 20051117: mail: "message preview" contacts: "contact preview" tasks: "task preview" calendar: /* preview does not exist */ memo: /* can't disable preview pane => BUG? */
Thanks Andre. So either this one was already fixed in HEAD recently, or it simply was implemented slightly different than mentioned in that other bug... Whatever, looks good. :) Closing RESOLVED FIXED. Even the mnemonics are set to "p" consistently. :)
