In the preview pane and in the stand-alone message window, the context menu has 
an item labeled "Copy", but selecting it doesn't copy anything.

i remember having seen this, however i am 100% sure that this is fixed in
evolution 2.4. :-/
any chance to jump on the experimental train and try 2.4 on debian? :-)

unfortunately, evolution 2.4 is not yet available due to this bug:
