Try to open galeon at right of the screen:

  galeon --geometry=739x715-0-4

I am using sawfish and metacity as window manager.
Metacity can't manage windows interactively and only a --geometry setting can be
used to open galeon at required place. It happens with many of galeon 1.3.X and
also with 2.0.0.
