From our internal bug database:
If the ftp proxy/port is set, then the appropriate xml is created in 
~/.gconf/system/proxy/. The http proxy settings are stored in
/system/http_proxy/. The autoconfig_url is stored in /system/proxy/autoconfig_url.

What needs to be done is a single schema created for all of the proxy
settings; http/ftp proxy/port/username/password, autoconfig URL, etc.

Fixed in the port to GSettings.
