GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 321836
very long filenames are drawn over other things
Last modified: 2005-12-23 00:03:59 UTC
Distribution/Version: Gentoo 1. create this file: "abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdefabcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef abcdefabcdefabcdef.txt" 2. see how it just doesnt receive special treatment by nautilus and so completely screw up the file layout. it does it in either: - "use compact layout" checked and not checked - "text beside icons" checked and not checked (both options are in nautilus menu edit -> preferences). in the case of "text beside icons" being checked, it is even more buggy: if the file is on the first line of icons in the nautilus window, the box with its filename goes up beyond the window frame, which clealy shows that it needs fixing. the solution: trim the text of filename after some size :) i dont think this should be hard to fix; and it should please a lot of people who like me sometimes need to deal with certain mp3 files named like "u2 - all that you cant leave behind - track 02. Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of (studio version, 320 kbps) 2004 - by xxyyzz.mp3" hehehe.
Created attachment 54929 [details] screenshot showing some of the effects i am tring to say
