GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 321418
nautilus crashes on right-click-zipping files
Last modified: 2005-11-29 11:50:19 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy) Package: nautilus Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.12.1 2.12.1 Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: nautilus crashes on right-click-zipping files Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: general Bugzilla-Version: 2.12.1 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.12.0) Description: Description of the crash: Right click compressing files with the archive-dialog crashes sometimes. It only works with a few fils at one.time. Also the filename seems to have something to do with it. Characters like ´ in a file name seem to make it crash. Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. Select more than eight files with strange names (like spam mails) with CTRL+a 2. Right click the selected files and choose "create archive" (or whatever the dialog is calles in english. I use the german localisation) 3. See what happens. Nautilus crashes on my system at that moment. Expected Results: A dialog to choose the file-name of the archive (*.tar.gz, *.zip or whatever) How often does this happen? Nearly every time I try it. Additional Information: Thanks for your help. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". (no debugging symbols found) `system-supplied DSO at 0xffffe000' has disappeared; keeping its symbols. Created attachment 55010 [details] files that make the built in nautilus archive-manager crash on right-click-zipping Unpack these files into a folder. Mark them all with CTRL + a. Right-click on these files and choose "create archive" or whatever it is called in the English localized version of Gnome. In German it is called "Archiv anlegen". After choosing "Archiv anlegen", Nautilus should crash if you are using Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger. Regards Detlef
I can confirm the bug using nautilus 2.12.1 and just by making an archive of lots of files like just an archive of /bin
