when i try to open (in any way, for example via file > open) some jpgs (not all,
some works ok), gimp freezes and i have to kill its process. i will add
attachemnts with not working jpg file

Yes, but what should i do? I have libexif 0.6.12 and i cannot find newer rpm for
mandriva with this library :(

Tell the Mandriva maintainers that they should do something about this (like
e.g. Debian, by backporting fixes). You could help them by verifying that
including the fix does indeed fix it.
