Description wdoust 2005-11-10 13:41:39 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 4 (Stentz)
Package: Evolution
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.10.0 2.2.x
Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc
Synopsis: Encrypted mail not showing signature details
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Miscellaneous
Bugzilla-Version: 2.2.x
Description:
Description of Problem:
When receiving an OpenPGP/MIME encrypted message (RFC 2440 and 3156)
created with GPG v1.4.0 and set from Thunderbird, the message decrypts
but the signature not located by Evolution. It reports there is no
signature.

Saving the PGP message and decrypting from the command line yields:

# gpg encrupted.txt

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "xxx"
1024-bit ELG-E key, ID C9FA4816, created 2004-08-20 (main key ID
ACE273A9)

gpg: encrypted with 2048-bit ELG-E key, ID 1309BBD0, created 2003-05-13
      "yyy"
gpg: encrypted with 1024-bit ELG-E key, ID C9FA4816, created 2004-08-20
      "softhome (Spam Account) <wdoust@softhome.net>"
gpg: encrupted.txt: unknown suffix
Enter new filename: test.txt
gpg: Signature made Wed 09 Nov 2005 10:36:42 PM UTC using DSA key ID
D8D61599
gpg: Good signature from "yyy"

Indicating the signature is indeed there.

When a message is sent signed but not encrypted, the signature is
correctly identified.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.
Receive encrypted mail
2.
Click on the encrypted icon at the bottom of the message
3.
Verify that the signature is not identified or detected

Actual Results:
No signature found when message is encrypted AND signed. Actual message
is "This message is not signed. There is no guarantee that this message
is encrypted"

Expected Results:
Should read "This meassge is signed and is valid meaning that it is very
likely that this message is authentic." Followed by the gpg details.
This happens if the message is signed but not encrypted.

How often does this happen?
Every time

Additional Information:
I'm happy to exchange keys for testing purposes with anyone who wants to
fix this!
