Description Mitch 2005-11-10 09:09:25 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When deleting files that have been previously opened in nautilus, and emptying
the trashcan, the users ~/.recently-used XML file does NOT get updated with the
fact. So when purusing your Gnome menu bar "Places -> Recent Documents" you
still see deleted documents being listed.

Nautilus SHOULD remove the relevant entries on file deletion. This is a simple
feature which i'm surprised is missing. Alterntaively 'fam' should be used to
monitor items in the recently used file and update them as needed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a file (PDF,Text, Image, etc..) in nautilus browser
2. Notice your Places->Recent Documents now is updated with the file entry
3. Now close the application that opened the file, and delete the file in nautilus .
4. Note that Place->Recent Documents still has the file listed !
5. Click on the file in the gnome menu and you get an error message.

Actual results:
File fails to open since it has been deleted, but it still shows in the Recent
Documents list.

Expected results:
File disappears from the gnome menu Places->Recent Documents list.

Does this happen every time?
Yes
