GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 321089
Threaded Message List doasn' t work.
Last modified: 2006-01-23 16:40:12 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Breezy The Threaded Message List should show it like this in evolution 2.0.4: http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s1924087/evolution-2.0.png but it only shows this: http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s1924087/evolution-2.4.png As you can see, it worked in Version 2.0 but doasn't since 2.4 (maybe 2.2) The first screenshot is from Debian sarge 2.0.1 the second from Ubuntu breezy 2.4.1 Both the same imap Directory, Subject fallback is not set.
Hi Benjamin, Have you tried Enabling "View->Group by Threads" option. The shortcut for which is Ctrl+T Am using 2.4.1, and it works pretty fine for me.
This option is of course enabled. If i turn it off it even don't groups the messages shown at the second screenshot, where it makes one group for all the messages, shown in the picture. Maybe it is only a bug in the Ubuntu Version of evolution. I noticed it since I changed to Ubuntu.
Also try enabling 'Fall back to threading messages bu subject' in edit > preferences > Mail Preferences.
As I said, i don't enable it, because with the option enabled it shows a similar output at 2.0 and 2.4 which is a little bit like at the second screenshot. One Thread with one level, where all the messages are. And not a new level for every response.
Benjamin, since this issue started after switching from 2.0.x to 2.4.x -- are you by any chance using the account type "IMAP4rev1" rather than "IMAP"? Looks like it. This is a known issue with "IMAP4rev1". Note: "IMAP4rev1" is deprecated, currently unmaintained and IMHO should not even have been available in the first place. Please change the account type to "IMAP". Both account types "IMAP" as well as "IMAP4rev1" do support the IMAP4r1 *protocol*. Closing this bug as a duplicate of bug 272058. If my assumption is incorrect, please feel free to reopen this bug immediately. Thanks for taking the time to report this issue!
