Description Jaap A. Haitsma 2005-11-06 17:30:29 UTC
Use case:
I have a NEW tree of folders and files which I want to reorganize a bit. In my
specific case I want files to be one folder higher in the tree

When I then click on the folder from which I want to move the files to the
folder I'm currently in, nautilus opens a new window which is almost covering
the current folder. Therefore if I want to use drag and drop I first have to
move one of the windows a bit. This would not be necessary if the newly opened
window would cover a bit less of the previous window

Thanks for your bug. I'm not convinced that's the right "fix". The spatial
stores the windows placement so it only happens on the first use, usually you
move the windows. The solution would also be to raise the destination or lower
the source as described by bug #80984. This bug should probably be closed as
NOTABUG but I let nautilus maintainers decide of that

I agree, this probably isn't a bug. However, it would be nice if original placement were at least just a bit farther from the parent window...specifically, far enough to show the titlebar and min/max/close buttons. That way if someone wants to close the parent, they can just press its close button, rather than having to move the child off of it first.

Changing component as a part of bug reorganisation work.
