Description Biswa ranjan lal 2005-10-27 11:24:55 UTC
1. Drag a launcher icon from a Panel to the desktop area

2. The launcher icon now appears on the desktop, but it remains on the Panel as
well.

I was expecting the launcher to be moved, not copied, just as it is if you drag
it somewhere else on the same panel or to another panel.

In short -- this behaviour is inconsistent with other similar operations.

Thanks for your bug report! This bug could be fixed after we resolved bug
171655. I agree that the current panel/Nautilus interaction is not very good.

We could also improve the text/uri-list drop target interaction, though I'm not
sure whether it's a good idea to actually remove files after a drag move was
requested, you might actually have moved an URI to a GtkEntry if the target
application is broken, so XDS might still be more suitable.

This is not relevant anymore in 3.0.
