I would expect EOG to display the file anyways (without error), which nautilus
will do in thumbnail mode and gimp will also do.  The sort of corrupted files I
am referring to are the sort you may get while an image loads from the internet.
 They usually are grey in the bottom half of the picture that doesn't fully
download.
