GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 319825
Nautilus Crash
Last modified: 2005-11-06 13:05:59 UTC
Distribution: Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre9 Package: nautilus Severity: Normal Version: GNOME2.12.1 2.12.1 Gnome-Distributor: Gentoo Synopsis: Nautilus Crash Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: general Bugzilla-Version: 2.12.1 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.12.0) Description: Description of the crash: Nautilus will occasionally crash in an interesting way. The display treeview ( nautilus --no-desktop --browser ) on the left gets mostly blanked-out, and there are a few remaining icons ( mainly row expanders ) left, which move around when I move the mouse pointer over them. Steps to reproduce the crash: Sorry. It seems to happen relatively randomly. In this particular case, I had opened a zip file with file roller, opened a text file inside it, then closed the text file, and closed file roller. When I returned to nautilus, it had frozen in the above state ( corrupt display of treeview ). Shortly after this, it crashed completely and Bug Buddy appeared. Expected Results: Crash-free operation :) How often does this happen? I'm not a regular nautilus user, however I have had this crash occur at least 3 times. Additional Information: Hopefully the debugging info is sufficient. If not, I can get Gentoo to recompile with debugging symbols, but someone should tell me which packages to recompile ( ie is nautilus itself enough? ). Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". (no debugging symbols found) `system-supplied DSO at 0xffffe000' has disappeared; keeping its symbols.
