Description Andrew Ziem 2005-10-01 13:26:16 UTC
Version details: nautilus-2.10.0-4
Distribution/Version: Fedora Core 4

1. Download a large video to an open folder
2. Maximize the browser
3. CPU runs hot as Naitilus calls totem very often to update preview

I used Firefox to download
http://ooocon-arnes.kiberpipa.org/media/Bloated_Michael_Meeks/video.ogg to the
desktop over 256Kbps line. I noticed the CPU (AMD 3000) running hot. Running
the top program showed totem often. This happened even thought the desktop was
obscured by my maximized browser. I moved the video from Desktop to Home, and
the problem stopped right away.

Perhaps the preview should be delayed until the file is no longer open for writing?
