Description raymond.bennett 2005-10-01 08:20:53 UTC
Distribution: Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy)
Package: EOG
Severity: Normal
Version: GNOME2.12.0 2.12.0
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: eog crashes when opening a jpeg file
Bugzilla-Product: EOG
Bugzilla-Component: general
Bugzilla-Version: 2.12.0
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.12.0)
Description:
Description of the crash:
Opening a jpeg file via nautilus, from a symlink directory, and eog will
quit unexpectedly.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Download jpeg files from
http://www.olterman.se/download/debian-1.tar.bz2
2. Placed files in /etc/splash/debian-1
3. Created a symlink to this directory (ln -sf /etc/splash/debian-1
/etc/splash/current)
4. Added read permission to all users (chmod a+x *) for the images
5. Attempted to open the image files from the symlink directory
(/etc/splash/current)

Expected Results:
The image displayed correctly, however the application quit
unexpectedly. Would expect it not to quit unexpectedly.

How often does this happen?
Everytime I try to open the file.

Comment 1 Lucas Rocha 2005-10-01 15:27:54 UTC
I cannot reproduce this bug in EOG 2.12.0. Unfortunately, this stack trace is
not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Can you get us one with
debugging symbols? See http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information
on how to do it.
Comment 2 Raymond Bennett 2005-10-01 17:22:21 UTC
Adding more info. If you can suggest how to get libpthread/libthread/libc DBG
then please let me know as I was unable to find dbg packages for them in apt.

Comment 3 Raymond Bennett 2005-10-01 17:24:03 UTC
Also note, that I copied other JPEG files into that directory, and they worked
without crashing. Please make sure to test with the JPEG files I linked to in
the original report.
Comment 4 Lucas Rocha 2005-10-11 13:26:03 UTC
Could you please check if this is still a problem with EOG 2.12.1?
Comment 5 Christian Kirbach 2005-11-25 21:47:21 UTC
Thanks for reporting.
This should be fixed in Gnome 2.12.2 (and newer releases).
If not, please reopen Bug #311925
