Description Daniel Holbach 2005-09-16 18:54:04 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Breezy

Forwarded from: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12501

Breezy's Bug Buddy (2.10.0-2ubuntu1) lists some applications twice, with
near-identical title and description. A quick look shows four duplicates:

- Character Map vs. Character Palette

- Dictionary vs. Dictionary Lookup

- System Monitor vs. System Monitor

- Volume Control vs. Volume Control

Only the latter names (Character Palette, ...) are listed in the "Add to Panel"
menu.

I can verify this on gentoo with a jhbuild setup.

Marking this as a duplicate of a newer bug report that has a patch.

I'm not sure if this bug is entirely fixed now, the addition of "(Panel Applet)"
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317524) was a very nice idea, thanks
for that.

But still: some application names (and their translations) make it still very
hard for a user to get the difference. Some examples are in the bug report. I'd
rather REOPEN the bug - what do you think?
