Description pedoli 2005-09-16 13:20:49 UTC
Version details: 1.2.2 & cvs

I have just compiled gnomemeeting 1.2.2 and pwlib 1.8.7 under mandrake 10.1 and
before start it says "No usable audio plugin detected".
Same distro, same machine with pwlib 1.8.4 and gnomemeeting 1.2.1 all works
ok.(all compiled and tested in the same pc).
Same problem for the cvs snapshot with sip support.
I don't have any webcam installed.
This is the result of gnomemeeting -d 6:

Please don't report configuration problems as bugs.
I suggest you to contact the mailing list for help.

Thanks.
Comment 2 pedoli 2005-09-16 14:45:03 UTC
I'm sorry but there is no configuration problem. The sound card is perfectly
configured with alsa and every other audio application works with it.(also
gnomemeeting 1.2.1!!)
For create rpm's i used mdk rpm of pwlib and gnomemeeting 1.2.2 (rpm
--rebuild...etc)

After upgrading gnomemeeting to version 1.2.2, the sound device cannot be
detected anymore. Something about audio device recognition is changed... What?

This is the result of aplay -l:

[root@mandrake]# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: AudioPCI [Ensoniq AudioPCI], device 0: ES1371/1 [ES1371 DAC2/ADC]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: AudioPCI [Ensoniq AudioPCI], device 1: ES1371/2 [ES1371 DAC1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

And this is the result of gnomemeeting 1.2.1 with -d 6:

[root@mandrake]# gnomemeeting -d 6

... i use kernel 2.6.8.1-24mdk but i have also tried 2.6.11 with libalsa 1.0.9
but the result is the same.
I tested 2 different pc with same distro and different hardware... nothing change.
I need this distro. Which part of the code can i change to revert the audio
detection to the previous version?
Comment 4 Damien Sandras 2005-09-17 09:53:26 UTC
The problem is not that it doesn't detect the soundcard. The problem appears
because of a bug in the GCC release of Mandrake.

The message indicates an audio problem because the strings freeze was already
effective for GNOME when the release was done, so we couldn't add a newer
english string.
