Description Nathan Flisher 2005-09-15 03:54:11 UTC
Version details: i586 build
Distribution/Version: XP Pro SP2

Note that although these are the steps that were originally taken, I have been
unable to reproduce the error by following them again.

Steps:

1) Create a new image (640x480).
2) Add some text to the image.
3) Resize the canvas to 64x64 (do not change the offset; do not change layer size).
4) The text should now be outside the canvas. When trying to move it I grabbed
the layer instead. Moving this around generated the following dialogue followed
by a crash:

Gimp-Core-ERROR **:file gimpimage-preview.c: line 281
(gimp_image_get_new_preview): assertion failed: (layer_buf)
aborting...

Is a log file generated? Could not find one. I have a screen dump of the
dialogue saved though.

Was running: VC++6; Winamp; Virtual Dimension; Lotus Notes 6.5; Firefox 1.06 as
well as the program I was working on. All up uses reasonable amount of memory,
but there was still 100+MB physical RAM free at the time.

This is already fixed in CVS, the fix will be in GIMP 2.2.9
