Description Elijah Newren 2005-09-10 23:41:55 UTC
If I set my account type to IMAP, then my folders under mail/ on the server all
show up. That's good. But my inbox on the server doesn't show up. That's bad.

If I set my account type to IMAP4rev1, then I get my inbox on the server. Yaay!
However, it doesn't show any of the folders under mail/ on the server. :-(

I've now switched back and forther between these two account types several times
without changing anything else and this happens every time. Is there any way to
simultaneously access both?
Comment 1 Jorn Baayen 2005-09-14 08:58:08 UTC
I'm having the same problem, but I cant even see my inbox using IMAP4rev1.
Subfolders only work using IMAP.
Comment 2 parthasarathi susarla 2005-09-14 09:08:36 UTC
Make sure that the INBOX is subscribed. This should fix the issue in IMAP.
Please don not use IMAP4rev1, since its experimental, and is not guranteed to work.
Comment 3 Jorn Baayen 2005-09-14 09:14:40 UTC
My INBOX mas marked as subscribed, but unsubsribing and resubscribing 'fixed' it.
Comment 4 Jorn Baayen 2005-09-14 09:17:24 UTC
I seem to have to repeat this procedure on every startup though ..
Comment 5 Elijah Newren 2005-09-14 14:59:07 UTC
How do I subscribe to another folder? When I go to Folder->Subscriptions, it
only lists the folders under "mail", and doesn't give me anywhere to enter
anything new. (If I type in "INBOX" anyway, a little popup entry comes up, but
as soon as I press enter it just goes away without doing anything). If I select
Folder->New, nothing happens.
Comment 6 parthasarathi susarla 2005-09-22 16:18:42 UTC
You can subscribe/unsubscribe folders only from the Folder->Subscriptions menu.
The Folder subscription dialog has the list of all the folders that can be
subscribed to (or unsubscribed). Inbox should surely be present there.
Comment 7 Elijah Newren 2005-09-22 16:23:32 UTC
Yes, should definitely be there. But it isn't.
Comment 8 parthasarathi susarla 2005-09-28 08:11:08 UTC
Elijah, the problem might be because of multiple namespaces. IMAP on Evo does
not support multiple namespaces, where as IMAP4rev1 does. We are planning the
support for multiple namespaces on IMAP for 2.6, the status of which wud be put
on the wiki page go-evolution.org

Thanks.

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I can't see my Inbox either, but can
see my mail folder...

When I try to subscribe to the Inbox, I get a dialog saying:

Unexpected response from IMAP server: 6573:error:02001002:system
library:fopen:No such file or directory:bss_file.c:104:fopen('server.pem','r')

I'm pretty sure this is Solaris IMAP implementation.
Comment 10 Peter Hartley 2005-11-14 20:30:52 UTC
When I upgraded from Evolution 2.2.3 to 2.4.0, my INBOX disappeared. It isn't in
my Folder->Subscriptions box, and I've anyway got "Show only subscribed folders"
turned off. If I "Override server-supplied folder namespace" to "INBOX", I see
the inbox (but not my other folders); if I set it back to the server-supplied
"Mail/", I see the rest of my folders again but not INBOX.

Reverting to Evolution 2.2.3 made the problem disappear, and it came back when I
re-upgraded to 2.4.1.

Server is UW imapd from Debian Sarge.

Uh, this bug should definitely not be marked as an enhancement. ;-) It is
impossible to read my email with evolution due to this bug (unless I use
IMAP4rev1 which you guys have explicitly told me not to do), and I have been
forced to use that archaic program known as pine for the last couple months.
Comment 12 Elijah Newren 2006-01-23 22:46:09 UTC
bug 317518 comment 9 provided a really kludgy workaround but hey, I can use Evolution again! SWEET!!!
Comment 13 Elijah Newren 2006-05-01 21:44:17 UTC
Jeff fixed it. Yaay. :)
