GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 315923
Flickr export does not rotate photos
Last modified: 2009-02-16 02:45:28 UTC
Fspot automatically displays photo right according to the orientation in the exif data. But if you export the photos to Flickr they will just get copied without rotating them beforehand. It would rock to have an option so that fspot would automatically rotate the photo to the right direction on export.
I can confirm this bug in f-spot 0.1.3 on fc4. Image in f-spot rotated yesterday. exported to flickr today only to find wrong orientation when image displayed on flickr. For completeness (f-spot exif information): Image Directory Orientation left - bottom Thumbnail Directory Orientation top - left EXIF Directory Exif Version Exif Version 2.2 Extended Metadata Orientation LeftBottom
Flickr now has an option (not turned on by default, apparently) that will respect the orientation field in the EXIF and therefore properly rotate any photos you export to it. It seems to me this bug is now a NOTABUG. Comments?
Pretty fine with me, if somebody else still needs it one could every just reopen it. Cheers.
This issue remains for end-users with default options set on flickr; duping to bug 386957.
