Description Kevin Kubasik 2005-09-09 16:29:30 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable
Package: Evolution
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.10.2 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: Evolution Crash when adding contacts to OpenLDAP
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Contacts [was: Addressbook]
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.10.1)
Description:
Description of the crash:
When attempting to populate an LDAP database with contacts from a
personal addressbook, Evolution crashes.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Populate a personal addressbook with contacts
2. Create a ldap server, addto evolution, authenticate with 'Use dn'
option (used Manager account in this case), also set 'Search Scope' to
sub.
3. Attempt to use 'Copy to Address Book' option from right click context
menu

Expected Results:
Because the user has write access, I would have epected that the contact
information be added to each, however, the evolution client crashed
instead

How often does this happen?
It has happend 3 times, following the same steps stated above. I have
also tried it with another user who has write access with no success.

Additional Information:
I have never set up a LDAP server before, and this was my first go,
while my commandline clients were able to access the database fine.
Should this be an execptionaly well tested feature of Evolution, then it
is more likely evolution simply needs to catch LDAP errors and fail
gracefuly.

Debugging Information:

Backtrace was generated from '/usr/libexec/evolution-data-server-1.2'

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

Can you please get the proper gdb backtrace for the crash?

Unfortunetly, I am running debian and it appears that alot of the debugging
symbols have been striped from the binary....

Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".
