Description Mikel Ward 2005-09-06 00:56:55 UTC
At the moment, the From field in the message list shows the full SMTP From
address, which is of the form:
Person's Name <person@example.com>

It would be much easier to see at a glance who the message was from if only the
friendly name were displayed. In other words, I would like the portion inside
the less-than/greater-than pair to be stripped (plus any preceeding whitespace)
from the name that appears in the message list.

I would be satisfied if this were implemented as a custom field (perhaps called
Sender's Name or similar) that could be added to a view.

I should add that as well as making it easier to decipher the sender's identity,
it would also give me more room to show other columns (especially the sender
column) on smaller displays.

thanks for reporting, however, this has already been requested... :-)
