GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 315166
Using GSSAPI/Kerberos auth still prompted for IMAP pass to store sent mail
Last modified: 2009-07-16 12:35:35 UTC
Please describe the problem: evolution-2.2.3-2.fc4 I have GSSAPI/Kerberos authentication setup for IMAP and SMTP. This works fine. The problem is that I my sent mail being stored to an IMAP folder. When I send a new email, it gets sent via a GSSAPI authenticated SMTP connection no problem, but then a dialog pops up and prompts for my IMAP password. When I click cancel I get another dialog that informs me that it couldn't save my outbound message in my designated IMAP sent folder and instead is being saved in the local sent mail folder. After dismissing the dialog, I CAN drag the message with my mouse from the local sent mail folder to the IMAP sent mail folder. Steps to reproduce: 1. Build a Kerberos REALM 2. Configure IMAP and SMTP server to accept GSSAPI authentication (in addition to PLAIN over TLS/SSL) 3. Configure Evolution to use GSSAPI authentication for IMAP and SMTP 4. Define your sent mail folder to be an IMAP folder 5. Compose and send an email, observe the error. Actual results: n/a - see above Expected results: No prompting for a password to save sent mail in IMAP folder. Does this happen every time? yes Other information:
This bug is still valid for Evolution 2.5.5.1. I can read, delete, and move messages in any folder just fine. However, sent messages always require a password prompt (which doesn't actually work even when typing in my kerberos password) and they end up in my local Sent folder. The imap server in question is Dovecot 1.0-alpha5, Debian Unstable build. The Evolution version is 2.5.5.1-0ubuntu1 from Ubuntu Dapper. All packages are updated as of 2005-01-22. This error does not occur when using the exact same software configured with PASSWORD/LOGIN auth on the server.
I'm pretty sure this bug is gone in 2.8. I've got the same setup, but it works fine here.
dax: Are you able to reproduce this?
No seems to be fixed.
Yes, it is indeed fixed. Not sure when it started working, I didn't even notice when it did since I rarely send emails. Thanks to whoever fixed it though!
