GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 314837
Address entry window does not immediately update when selection is made from drop-down combo box
Last modified: 2006-01-07 00:22:19 UTC
Version details: 1.7.6 Distribution/Version: YDL-4.0.1 (1)Type "ftp" into the address entry window. A drop-down combo box appears containing a set of recently visited ftp sites. (2) Select one of the entries in the the list. The Address entry window does *not* update to show the selection. The View pane updates showing the contents of the selected entry
I don't quite understand what the problem is. What UI elements exactly do you mean by 'the Address entry window' and the 'View pane'? What would you expect them to do, that they don't?
The nomemclature used comes from the epiphany help page... [:-)] Epiphany "remembers" where you have been. Do the following: * Begin entering a URL into the address entry window. * Stop. A drop-down combo box appears displaying a list of probable URLS. *Select one of those probable URLS from the list. The selected URL should *immediately* appear in the address entry window completing what you began typing. It does not. What you see is what you have typed so far. Nothing more. Once epiphany downloads the selected URL: * the address entry window updates, finally displaying the text of the chosen URL. * the view pane updates, displaying the contents of the selected page. What used to happen ------------------- In previous versions of epiphany the act of selecting a URL from the drop-down combo box caused the address entry window to *immediately* update before the selected page was fetched. -Joseph
OK, I understand now. I think the current behaviour is OK, but regardless, this is not something epiphany can do anything about. The 'problem' exists in the gtk autocomplete widget, so I'm moving the bug to GTK.
I'm not sure why you closed this as WONTFIX, but it's actually a duplicate of bug 102528.

Sorry about that. Just "house cleaning" old bugs from 2005. -Joseph
