after that it suddenly popped up the error message saying
'The application Evolution crashed unexpectedly'

Using evolution-2.3.8.0.200508260453-0.snap.novell.11.1 and

Its an issue in gtkhtml. I think this issue has been fixed, shoudl be solved by
upgrading gtkhtml. Reassigning to gtkhtml component.

The change above (comment #13) didn't touch 2.12 I guess.
Comment 18 Kandepu Prasad 2008-07-30 13:00:12 UTC
Is this still issue? Can any one test with latest Evolution stable version 2.22.3? TIA
Comment 19 Sebastien Bacher 2008-08-06 21:33:33 UTC
the change listed was before GNOME 2.22 but there is a duplicate on GNOME 2.22 there: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/205407
Comment 20 Milan Crha 2008-08-07 07:54:57 UTC
I discussed with Sebastien on IRC and the 2.22 bug has quite similar crash-thread, only the execution thread is different because of the rewrite. Pasting here just for a record. I would appreciate, if someone can place here some testing email, or some steps how to intentionally invoke this, but I'm a bit afraid this doesn't have such options...

GtkHtml is not under active development anymore.
Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago.
It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
