Description kirstenbr 2005-08-26 03:34:07 UTC
Distribution/Version: 98SE

After initiating GIMP, I select "file", "open", "C", "My Documents", and begin
browsing through the files in the directory. Usually within about 10 seconds
into the scrolling process, I get the following error:
Pango-Error**.file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed:(glyphs->
num_glyphs>0)aborting

I have recently installed this program, along with GTK Runtime environment -
which I installed first, as per the instructions on the GIMP site. So far I
have been unable to use the program because I can't get past trying to browse
for a picture file.
Please help!

The advice given in the FAQ doesn't work for you?

Comment 3 kirstenbr 2005-08-26 13:10:13 UTC
Duh! I tried to find those FAQ's after downloading and couldn't locate them! I
did the uninstall of GTK, then re-install without GTK-Wimp as suggested. I am
now at least able to open a file and use the program for the first time -
thanks! Question - will I lose any functionality in the program by not having
Wimp?
Thank you for your assistance,
Kirsten
