GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 314228
Cannot open image files
Last modified: 2005-08-24 05:30:24 UTC
Distribution/Version: Windows ME When I click "open" under "file" and try to go open a picture, GIMP gives me this message: Pango_ERRORxx:file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape: assertion failed:(glyphs-> num_glyphs 0) aborting... This has happened repeatedly, even after restarting GIMP several times. Any idea what's going on?
Does this happen with all images or just one particular image? If it only happens with one image, can you please attach the image to this bug.
Well, that is most likely just another instance of the well-known Pango bug. Your problem is that GTK+ tries to use a broken font that doesn't provide an Unicode character mapping. Switching to a different system font might help.
Are you using a custom theme? I had the same problem/error when I was using a custom theme with a different font, changing back to the windows xp default theme fixed the problem for me..
^^^ sorry I did not notice your OS was windows ME...Im not sure if windows ME supports custom themes...
